 How Councils Can Lead the Way on Plant Based Eating\nFollowing activism an
 d protest by groups such as Extinction Rebellion\, many councils in the UK
  declared a climate emergency and took steps to reduce their environmental
  footprint. The role of a plant-based food system in helping to reduce car
 bon emissions\, however\, typically went unacknowledged. The Plant-Based C
 ouncils (PBC) campaign aims to change that. Recognising the role that coun
 cils can play in facilitating and normalising plant-based food\, it has su
 ccessfully secured commitments from 13 councils to pass plant-based motion
 s or policies\, with many committing to 100% plant-based catering for all 
 internal meetings and events. This talk will cover: The environmental impo
 rtance of switching to a plant-based food system The strategic decision to
  focus on councils How councils and councillors are approached about the c
 ampaign You will also learn how you can help the campaign at different lev
 els of involvement\, from emailing your local councillor to starting your
