Popular vegan restaurant chain Tofu Vegan is expanding with the opening of a fifth location in London on Gloucester Road. Known for its vegan takes on traditional Chinese dishes, Tofu Vegan has gained a cult following since launching its first restaurant in Islington in 2021. The new branch will offer menu items such as Peking “duck,” sizzling tofu in black bean sauce, and twice cooked “fish.”

The expansion of Tofu Vegan comes after a successful four years for the brand, with recent openings in Golders Green, Spitalfields, and Charlotte Street. Despite challenges faced by the restaurant industry as a whole, including the closure of some plant-based eateries in the UK, Tofu Vegan's growth reflects a steady rise in the number of people adopting plant-based diets in the UK. Other popular vegan restaurants in London, such as Mildred’s, Mallow, and En Root, have also recently expanded to meet the demand for vegan food in the capital.
