19-Year-Old Entrepreneur Opens Gourmet Vegan Bakery in Washington, D.C.

Chanice McClover-Lee, a 19-year-old Howard University student, recently opened Baked by Chanice, a gourmet vegan bakery specializing in cookies and custom cakes in Washington, D.C. McClover-Lee started selling her baked goods at farmers markets in her hometown of South Florida before relocating the business to DC’s Brookland neighborhood. The new shop is set to open on May 22-23 for takeout only on weekends.

The menu at Baked by Chanice features unique cookie flavors like s’mores, red velvet cheesecake, birthday cake, and chocolate chip coconut walnut. Customers can also order custom cakes and cupcakes in various flavors. In addition to the flagship shop, Baked by Chanice will be selling their treats at the SW DC Farmers Market starting May 29 and offers nationwide shipping through their website.
