192-Year-Old Luxury Retailer Harvey Nichols Finally Bans Fur

British luxury department store Harvey Nichols, established in 1831, has announced that it will become fur-free by the end of 2023. This decision comes after being shown footage of the Humane Society UK's investigation into fur farms in China. This move has been hailed as a significant moment in the Fur Free Britain campaign, with Harvey Nichols joining other brands in phasing out fur products.

While fur farming is illegal in the UK, it is still imported in large quantities every year. Animals raised for their fur, such as minks, foxes, chinchillas, and rabbits, are often kept in inhumane conditions in countries like Finland, China, Denmark, and Poland. The decision to go fur-free by Harvey Nichols sends a strong message against the cruelty of fur farming and sets an example for other retailers to follow suit.
