ORF Genetics has secured €5 million in funding to scale up its production of specialized proteins for the cultivated meat industry. The investment will support the company's efforts to meet the increasing demand for its MESOkine product line, essential for lab-grown meat production. With plans to expand production capacity significantly, ORF Genetics aims to increase output fourteenfold by 2027 and by a factor of 10,000 by 2032.

Arctica Finance facilitated the financing round, and the company is looking to extend the round further, targeting to raise up to €7 million by mid-October. ORF Genetics' unique method for producing growth factors using bioengineered barley has positioned it as a critical player in the cultivated meat industry, with its products already being utilized by companies like Australia's VOW. The CEO, Berglind Rán Ólafsdóttir, emphasized the company's pivotal moment and its plans for growth in a market with significant potential for expansion.
