9 In 10 Brits Acknowledge Farmed Animals Feel Emotions Like Cats And Dogs

A recent study by The Vegan Society found that 90 percent of Brits believe farmed animals like pigs, cows, and chickens experience emotions similar to cats and dogs. This suggests a form of cognitive dissonance, where people's actions don't align with their values. Despite this, the majority of people do recognize that farmed animals have emotions, prompting The Vegan Society to encourage action based on these beliefs.

Although the UK claims to have high animal welfare standards, around 85 percent of land animals are factory farmed in cramped and unhygienic conditions. The rise of "mega farms" further exacerbates the issue, with over 1,099 of these intensive farms in the country that house millions of animals at a time. The Vegan Society is advocating for extending love and respect towards non-human animals and providing ways for individuals to take action through their campaign.
