A New Vegan Drive-Thru Wants To Take On McDonald’s

A new vegan fast food drive-thru, Face Plant, is set to open in Portland, Oregon this month at the location of a former McDonald's. The drive-thru will offer classic fast food items such as cheeseburgers, milkshakes, fries, and nuggets, all made with plant-based ingredients. Entrepreneur Matt Plitch, who struggled to find convenient and affordable vegan food that aligned with his values, recruited non-vegan cookbook author Molly Baz to create the menu using Impossible Foods as the base of the burgers and nuggets.

Plitch aims to attract customers who frequent traditional fast food drive-thrus with quick and affordable options. Face Plant will differentiate itself by offering a more personalized customer service experience, similar to In-N-Out burger, where staff will take orders directly from customers' cars. Plitch hopes to challenge McDonald's dominance in the fast food industry by providing delicious vegan alternatives that can appeal to both vegans and meat-eaters alike.
