A Spanish Court Orders the Return of Several Cows Living in a Sanctuary to the Farm From Which They Were Rescued

In Spain, a court has ordered the return of several cows, rescued from a farm due to deplorable conditions, to the farmer from whom they were confiscated. The cows had been under the care of La Manada Cántabra sanctuary in Cantabria since 2022. Despite appeals and efforts by the sanctuary to prevent the return of the cows, the court ruled that there were no indications of animal abuse, leading to the decision for the cows to be returned to the farmer. The sanctuary fears that the farmer will kill the cows, as they have not produced milk for a long time and have shown positive results in tests, placing them at risk of being executed.

The sanctuary's co-founder expressed devastation and helplessness over the situation, stating that the judicial decision is final. While efforts to prevent the return of the cows have been exhausted, the sanctuary hopes that the farmer will choose to give up the animals rather than face their potential death upon their return to the farm.
