Thanks to PETA's assistance, five monkeys rescued from the now-shuttered West Coast Game Park Safari in Oregon are now thriving at the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary in Texas. The monkeys, including baboons Zeus, Calliope, and Monet, and vervets Bear and Blue, have access to spacious, naturalistic habitats where they can roam, forage, and socialize freely. The baboons have formed strong bonds with their new groupmates, while the vervets have blossomed into outgoing and confident individuals.

This transformation is part of a larger victory for PETA, as Oregon authorities removed 322 neglected animals from the dilapidated roadside zoo and ensured they were relocated to reputable facilities. The former owner of the zoo is facing criminal charges for neglecting the animals and may serve time in prison. PETA emphasizes the importance of continuing efforts to shut down roadside zoos and provide all captive animals with the opportunity for freedom and care like these five monkeys have now experienced at the sanctuary.
