Accusations of Salmons Being Buried Illegally on Scottish Beach

A company in Scotland, Whiteshore Cockles, has been accused of illegally burying dead and diseased salmon from salmon farming on a beach. The company had been granted an exemption from the Scottish government to bury the salmon, under the condition that they were building a fish waste dryer to process the fish. However, the exemption ended in January 2024, and footage from Ecotricity in May 2024 showed the company still burying salmon, leading to concerns about environmental impact and wildlife being attracted to the site.

When confronted by reporters, Whiteshore Cockles denied the burying was still happening, but later admitted to it. The practice of burying dead salmon highlights the harsh conditions in salmon farms that result in many fish deaths, creating a disposal problem. The allegations have sparked outrage among animal rights activists, urging people to consider veganism as a way to protect animals.
