Indian industrial biotech company Praj Industries has launched an Advanced Precision Fermentation Lab at its Praj Matrix R&D centre in Pune, India, in collaboration with BRIC-NCCS. The facility aims to support high-capacity, AI-enabled fermentation processes across various sectors. This partnership will focus on bioprocessing capability development, biomolecule and microbial strain discovery, and training opportunities for PhD researchers through internships and joint research programmes.

Aligned with India’s BioE3 initiative and driven by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the lab and partnership aim to strengthen the country’s bio-based economy. Precision fermentation is a key technology in various national bioeconomy strategies worldwide, and the new facility will also benefit Praj’s subsidiary, Praj HiPurity Systems.
