Ajinomoto’s New Dairy-Free Coffee Blends Traditional Brew with Rice and Chickpea-Based Alternative

Japanese food manufacturer Ajinomoto has introduced a new dairy-free ice latte beverage in Singapore called Atlr.72® GRe:en Drop Coffee, which incorporates Solein®, a protein developed by Solar Foods. The product blends regular coffee with a bean-less alternative made from rice and chickpeas, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of traditional coffee by cutting CO2 emissions by 25%. This marks an expansion of Ajinomoto’s Atlr.72® brand, which previously focused on sweet products and now includes beverages.

Solein® has been incorporated into various products by Ajinomoto following their partnership with Solar Foods in 2023, offering a dairy-free, protein-rich alternative with minimal environmental impact. The collaboration between Solar Foods and Ajinomoto aims to provide healthier and more environmentally friendly food products to consumers. The Atlr.72® brand plans to expand further into daily meals and other food categories, with Solein® cream being developed as a direct substitute for dairy cream in coffee products. Ajinomoto’s GRe:en Drop Coffee is the latest example of using Solein® in innovative food products, with the company planning to explore more ways to incorporate it into their offerings in the future.
