Finnish producer Solar Foods has received an order from US-based sports nutrition and health supplement brand Ambrosia Collective to launch a protein powder made from Solar Foods’ air-based Solein® protein in the US. The product, sold under Ambrosia’s Planta brand, will be one of the first Solein-powered protein powder products available to consumers worldwide. Ambrosia, known for its vegan-friendly products, aims to offer performance-focused options for active lifestyles, including protein supplements and products supporting performance, weight management, and health and wellness.

Solar Foods is working to commercialize Solein in the US, with plans to focus initially on the Health & Performance nutrition market. The company has submitted a GRAS notification to the FDA and is preparing to start production at its first industrial-scale facility in Finland. Rami Jokela, CEO of Solar Foods, expressed excitement at seeing Solein-powered products hitting the market, emphasizing the ingredient’s suitability for the health and performance nutrition category. A limited amount of Ambrosia Collective’s protein powder is expected to be available for consumers in the first quarter of this year, marking a significant milestone in the use of Solein in the US market.
