A study found that Americans are more likely to choose a falafel burger over a plant-based burger that imitates meat. The research, conducted by German scientists, surveyed over 2,000 Americans online and offered them descriptions and images of different burgers to choose from. Surprisingly, the falafel burger was the first choice for 11.5 percent of respondents and had the largest share of second-choice votes at 33.7 percent.

The study also revealed that price plays a significant role in people's decisions to choose meat-free burgers. When the plant-based options were more expensive than beef burgers, there was a 20 percent drop in people choosing them. However, when the meat-free burgers were cheaper, the number of participants opting for them increased significantly. This suggests that cost is a key factor in consumers' decisions to choose plant-based alternatives over meat.
