Animal Rising to Release Factory Farm Footage in Legal Challenge to UK Government, Demands 2040 Phase-Out

Animal Rising, a British animal rights organization, plans to release footage from inside British factory farms on September 1, alleging that intensive animal agriculture violates existing animal welfare laws. The organization is using this footage to push the UK government to commit to ending factory farming by 2040 and transition to a more sustainable food system. The organization's petition also calls for halting the expansion of intensive farming, investing in plant-based food production, supporting farmers through the transition, and restoring land taken out of intensive use.
In addition to releasing the footage, Animal Rising has been actively opposing individual megafarm and hatchery applications, and has submitted a formal response to government planning frameworks supporting livestock intensification. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the legal implications of factory farming practices and pressure policymakers to take action towards a more ethical and sustainable food system.
