‘Animals Can’t Vote, But You Can’: Animal Political Parties Unite For European Elections

Animal political parties from across Europe have come together to prioritize animal welfare in the upcoming European Parliament elections. With candidates from six different countries running under the coalition "Animal Politics EU," the group aims to advocate for policies such as reducing farmed animal numbers, ending animal testing, and closing fur farms. They also plan to redirect subsidies from animal agriculture to sustainable plant-based farming and ban cruel farming practices such as live animal export.

The manifesto of Animal Politics EU also includes commitments to protect animals in various contexts beyond farming, such as ending hunting of wild animals, cracking down on the illegal pet trade, and creating marine sanctuaries. The group criticizes the current EU agricultural policies for prioritizing short-term fixes over long-term sustainability and advocates for a broader view that considers the well-being of the entire planet and all its inhabitants.
