Three recent graduates from the University of San Carlos in Guatemala took legal action after being forced to work in a factory farm facility in the United States against their will. The three individuals were promised a year-long internship at a pig farming facility in the US, which included specialized training, American cultural experiences, agricultural classes, and free housing. However, the reality turned out to be far from what was promised, as they were actually placed in dangerous working conditions and subjected to exploitation.

The lawsuit, supported by agricultural rights group FarmSTAND, Legal Aid Nebraska, and Radford Scott Law Firm, highlights the exploitation and abuse that exists within the livestock industry. The case sheds light on the dark side of the industry and calls for a necessary transformation towards a more economically and ethically sound model.
