Balenciaga's 2026 collection includes outfits made with bioengineered silk from AMSilk GmbH. This marks the first commercially available garments made with this silk protein yarn. The collection includes a white button-down shirt and black shirtdress, both featuring a ribbon tie fastening and embroidered Balenciaga logo, showcasing a sustainable and animal-free alternative to traditional silk.

AMSilk's bio silk is derived from nature, featuring biodegradable biomaterials created through DNA editing and protein engineering. The yarns are free from animal ingredients and certified with the Vegan Trademark. This launch represents a significant milestone for AMSilk and the fashion industry, showcasing the commercial viability of bioengineered materials as a more ethical and scalable alternative to traditional silk production methods.
