‘Baywatch’ Star Found Not Guilty After Rescuing Chickens Destined For Slaughter

Two animal activists, including ‘Baywatch’ star Alexandra Paul, were found not guilty after rescuing two chickens from a transport truck bound for a California slaughterhouse. The activists, members of Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), faced theft charges but were acquitted by a jury in Merced, California. The trial, which began on March 7, ended on March 16 with a verdict in favor of the defendants.

The rescue of the chickens, named Ethan and Jax, took place in September 2021 as they were being transported to Foster Farms’ Livingston slaughterhouse. Hidden camera footage released by DxE showed the mistreatment of chickens at the slaughterhouse, leading to allegations of animal cruelty violations. Despite one of the rescued chickens passing away due to sickness, the other, Jax, is alive and thriving at a sanctuary. The activists aimed to bring attention to the plight of farmed animals through their actions and legal defense.
