Ben & Jerry’s and Ava DuVernay Debut New Vegan Ice Cream Flavor

Ben and Jerry’s has partnered with filmmaker Ava DuVernay to create a new permanent ice cream flavor for 2023, available in both dairy and almond milk bases. The flavor, called Lights! Caramel! Action!, features a vanilla ice cream base with salted caramel swirls, graham crackers, and chocolate chip cookie dough, and will be available at retailers nationwide and Ben and Jerry’s scoop shops next month. Proceeds from the ice cream will benefit DuVernay’s non-profit organization, ARRAY Alliance, which works to advance social justice through art by supporting artists of color and providing grants, mentorship, and education for underrepresented communities in the film and TV industries.

DuVernay, who founded ARRAY Alliance over 10 years ago, expressed that ice cream is a simple joy of life and the proceeds from the new flavor will help further the non-profit’s mission of inclusion and belonging. Customers can purchase pints of Lights! Caramel! Action! for $6.49 at retail locations, with prices varying at Ben and Jerry’s Scoop Shops.
