Beyond & Oatly Among Plant-Based Exhibitors at Inaugural Anuga Alternatives Show

Anuga, one of the world’s largest food and drink trade shows, is launching an event exclusively for alternative proteins. The upcoming Anuga Alternatives show, set to take place in Cologne from October 4-8, has already attracted nearly 100 exhibitors, including industry giants Beyond and Oatly. The event aims to support companies working with plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cell-cultivated proteins to ensure sustainable global protein supply in a health-forward and technologically feasible manner.

Among the exhibitors at Anuga Alternatives are companies showcasing a wide range of alternative protein products, including plant-based egg patties, mycelium-based chicken alternatives, sunflower protein mince, algae-based vegan caviar, and plant-based shrimps. The event comes as alternative proteins continue to gain traction in the food industry, with research showing significant growth in microbial protein products, yeast-derived proteins, and animal-free whey proteins. Anuga Alternatives will also feature a specialised programme focusing on future themes in the food industry, highlighting the importance of technological innovation in the development of alternative proteins.
