This acquisition marks Ahimsa Companies' third M&A deal in its goal to reshape the sustainable food industry. Blackbird Foods, known for its vegan pizzas and wings, seitan, and dairy-free cheese, will benefit from the acquisition by expanding its reach, enhancing manufacturing capabilities, and accelerating product innovation. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Blackbird Foods will continue to operate under its existing brand identity.

As retail sales of plant-based meat saw a decrease in 2024, frozen plant-based foods performed better than chilled options, according to market research firm Circana. Ahimsa Companies, backed by investors like the Ahimsa Foundation, is leading the plant-based consolidation era by focusing on companies in various alternative protein segments.
