US-based vegan food brand Blackbird Foods has been acquired by plant-based investor Ahimsa Companies. Known for its New York-style hand-tossed frozen pizzas and plant-based wings made from seitan, Blackbird Foods plans to leverage Ahimsa's expertise to enhance its distribution and manufacturing capabilities, with ambitions for growth and product innovations on the horizon.

Ahimsa Companies, formed in 2024, aims to support plant-based food companies in the US. In addition to acquiring global brands like Wicked Kitchen, Good Catch, Current Foods, and Simulate's NUGGS, Ahimsa will work with Blackbird Foods to push the boundaries of plant-based cuisine while maintaining quality and authenticity for customers.
