Brits Being ‘Systematically Misled’ About Meat, Dairy, And Eggs, Study Finds

A new report by The Animal Law Foundation has revealed that there is widespread misinformation surrounding the food system in the UK, particularly when it comes to meat, dairy, eggs, and other animal products. The report found that the pastoral image of animal farming in marketing does not accurately represent reality, with the majority of farmed animals being raised on factory farms.

The report also highlighted that producers and supermarkets often use misleading imagery and information on their websites and products, with many showcasing healthy-looking animals living outdoors. Due to dairy pooling, it is difficult for consumers to know if the cows producing their milk were ever grazed outdoors. The foundation is calling for urgent action to address what they refer to as 'humane-washing' in animal agriculture, emphasizing the need for consumers to trust the claims made on the food they buy.
