Brooklyn-Based RIND by Dina & Joshua’s Journey from Cheese Cave to Upscale Californian Supermarkets

Brooklyn-based vegan cheese company RIND by Dina & Joshua has recently secured a retail partnership with the upscale supermarket chain Erewhon in California. Their launch will feature two of RIND’s popular mini-wheels, Classic Cambleu and Paprika, across Erewhon’s 10 locations. Founded in 2017 by Dina DiCenso and Joshua Katcher, RIND has received multiple awards for their plant-based cheeses, crafted in North America’s first vegan cheese cave in New York City. Their products use a unique blend of plant-based ingredients, microbes, and cultures to replicate the complex flavors of traditional cheeses.

After initially catching Erewhon’s attention in 2019, RIND was unable to meet the supermarket’s demands at that time due to their small size. However, in 2024, the company has shown significant growth and is now ready to collaborate with Erewhon. Along with their aged cheeses, RIND also produces vegan cheese spreads and innovated the world’s first carrot-based cheese slices, which won a prestigious award. Co-founder Joshua Katcher expressed excitement for Erewhon customers to experience their high-quality plant-based cheeses and looks forward to sharing their products in the upscale supermarkets.
