California’s Southern Fried Vegan Is Coming to Chicago This Weekend

California-based vegan pop-up vendor, Southern Fried Vegan, is set to make its debut in Chicago this weekend at Dovetail Brewery. The event will feature a variety of smoked BBQ vegan meats, including Fried Chickun, Mac 'N Cheeze, Jambalaya, Cajun Corn, and Totchos. One of the highlights of the menu is "The Porker," a burger made with OmniPork Strips, fried pickles, slaw, and a vegan chili truffle aioli.

OmniPork, a new plant-based pork protein, has been gaining popularity after successful trials at restaurants in Hawaii and California. Made from a blend of non-GMO soy, peas, shiitake mushrooms, and rice, OmniPork comes in three varieties and can be cooked in various ways. Southern Fried Vegan's BBQ eats have been well-received at festivals like Coachella and VegFests, making it a must-try for vegan food enthusiasts.
