Cambridge University Scrapped Plant-Based Menu Based On The Wrong Data

The University of Cambridge has canceled a plant-based menu at The Whale Café based on incorrect sales data, according to a student-led climate campaign group called Plant-Based Cambridge. The group believes that the university made a mistake in analyzing the sales data and wrongly concluded that the trial was unsuccessful. Despite feedback from visitors who preferred the plant-based menu, the university has refused to reconsider its decision.

The Whale Café, located at Cambridge’s Museum of Zoology, trialed a fully plant-based menu for a month, with positive feedback from customers. Plant-Based Cambridge is urging the university to acknowledge its error, reinstate the plant-based menu, and support sustainable, plant-based catering on campus. By transitioning away from animal foods, the university could improve its sustainability rankings and support environmental initiatives.
