Campaign Updates: Animals Sickened, Mutilated, Killed in Military-Funded Tests Abroad

PETA has uncovered cruel and deadly experiments on animals funded by the U.S. Department of War in foreign laboratories. American taxpayers have footed the bill for experiments where rats are scalded in near-boiling water, dogs are sickened, mini-pigs are mutilated, octopuses are sliced open, and animals are blinded, among other atrocities. Over $35 million has been wasted since 2019 on these experiments, leading PETA to call on Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to ban funding for such tests abroad to prevent further waste, fraud, and abuse.

One specific example highlighted by PETA is a study in Canada in which mice are subjected to strangulation, oxygen deprivation, and brain injury in an attempt to simulate "intimate partner violence" in humans. The Pentagon is also funding experiments in Canada where animals are sliced open, brain-injured, deprived of oxygen, and more, all at the cost of taxpayers' money. PETA is urging the Department of War to stop these cruel tests and invest in more humane and scientifically relevant research methods that can benefit humans.
