Canada Backs $15M Project to Scale Whole-Cut Plant-Based Beef, Pork, and Seafood

Protein Industries Canada (PIC) is investing $4.9 million in a $15.1 million project with NS/TX Industries, New Protein International (NPI), and Infusd Nutrition to expand NS/TX’s whole-cut alternative protein manufacturing platform. The project aims to scale NS/TX’s manufacturing process and introduce whole-cut beef and pork alternatives alongside their existing plant-based fish products, using Canadian-sourced pea, fava, and soy proteins.

NPI will supply clean-label soy protein, and is establishing Canada's first dedicated soy protein manufacturing plant. Infusd Nutrition is contributing a pilot-scale water-stable creatine ingredient for food and beverage applications. This investment is expected to create a domestic end-to-end soy protein value chain and generate innovation-based jobs. NS/TX Industries' CEO, Chris Bryson, emphasized the commitment to producing high-quality meat and seafood alternatives and expanding their product range through collaborations with NPI and Infusd.
