Caribou Coffee Eliminates Surcharge for Plant-Based Milk Across All 800 Locations

Caribou Coffee has eliminated its surcharge on plant-based milk alternatives, allowing customers to order oat, almond, or coconut milk at no additional cost in all of its approximately 800 locations across 11 countries. Previously, the chain only offered free plant-based milk to loyalty members who ordered through its mobile app, but now joins other major coffee chains in removing the additional fee.

This decision was praised by animal welfare organization Mercy For Animals, who commended Caribou for setting a new industry standard for kindness and inclusivity. The move comes amidst increasing scrutiny over charging extra for dairy-free options, which can pose barriers for individuals with dietary restrictions. PETA also supported the change and urged other coffee chains to follow suit in making plant-based milks more accessible to customers.

Overall, Caribou Coffee's decision to eliminate surcharges on plant-based milk aligns with a growing trend in the food and beverage industry to cater to diverse dietary preferences, promote animal welfare, and support environmental sustainability. By taking this step, the chain is making a positive impact for its customers, animals, and the planet.
