Chef Quits Over Vegan Menu At Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Ceremony

Saulo Jennings, a Brazilian chef, has quit his role curating the Earthshot Prize banquet in Rio de Janeiro after being asked to create an all-vegan menu. The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough, celebrates innovative contributions to environmentalism and serves a vegan menu in line with its sustainability values.

Jennings expressed his disappointment at being asked to prepare a meat-free menu, equating it to "asking Iron Maiden to play jazz." While he did design a vegan menu using Brazilian staples, it went beyond the event's budget. Award-winning vegan chef Tati Lund will now cater the event, prioritizing local, organic, and seasonal ingredients to showcase a way of life through her food.
