A Chinese trade association has developed the country’s first national plant-based food standard to address the industry’s challenges. The China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA) launched a group standard to improve consistency, address product labelling confusion, and boost innovation in the plant-based food industry.

The goal of the standard is to safeguard consumers and companies, create unified standards, regulate product definitions, and drive healthy competition in the industry. With foreign brands struggling in the Chinese market, this move aims to support homegrown businesses looking to go global and capitalize on the growing trend of plant-based foods in China.
