China’s First New Protein Food Technology Innovation Base Is Established in Beijing

A seminar on technological innovation and the development of new protein foods was recently held in Fengtai, Beijing, as part of the region's innovation initiatives. The event, organized by the People's Government of Fengtai District and Beijing Shounong Food Group, marked the official launch of the China Meat Food Research Center's New Protein Food Technology Innovation Hub. With an investment of over $11 million, this facility in Beijing's Fengtai District aims to advance research and development in cultivated meat and microbial protein, featuring state-of-the-art laboratories and pilot-scale bioreactors for production.

The New Protein Food Technology Innovation Hub is equipped with advanced infrastructure, including 2,000-liter pilot-scale bioreactors for cultivated meat and microbial protein production. Additionally, three pilot-scale production lines are in place, consisting of two 2,000-liter units and one 5,000-liter unit. The facility also houses operational production lines for both cultivated meat and microbial protein. This cutting-edge technology is set to accelerate the industrialization of alternative proteins, aiding in bridging the gap between research and large-scale production in the field of new protein foods.
