Chipotle’s Cultivate Next Invests in Plant-Based Regenerative Farming Startup Simpli

Chipotle Mexican Grill's food tech venture fund, Cultivate Next, has invested in regenerative farming startup Simpli, along with five other agrifood tech companies. Simpli, founded in 2020 by Sarela Herrada and her husband Matt Cohen, focuses on building a transparent and responsible supply chain rooted in regenerative organic products. The company partners directly with farmers committed to regenerative and organic practices in countries like Peru, Spain, Greece, and more, selling pantry staples like legumes, grains, oils, seeds, and sea salts.

Regenerative agriculture has gained attention with initiatives like the Trump administration's $700M Regenerative Pilot Program and documentaries like Kiss the Ground. Chipotle's investments in companies like Simpli are aimed at promoting climate intelligence, soil health, food waste reduction, sustainability tracking, supply chain transparency, and digital identity. These investments are seen as shaping the future of agriculture, sustainability, and the guest experience, creating opportunities for a more resilient food system.
