Meatly, a UK cultivated meat company, has begun construction on a new pilot facility in London following a successful £10.4 million Series A fundraising round. Once completed, the facility is set to be the largest cultivated meat site in Europe, with 20,000 litres of bioreactor capacity. The company plans to target the pet food market in the UK by 2027, with regulatory approval for cultivated chicken already granted in 2024 and a successful retail trial in 2025.

Founded in 2022, Meatly has focused on reducing costs rather than expanding its product range, achieving significant reductions in growth medium and bioreactor costs in recent years. CEO Owen Ensor expressed excitement about the construction progress, naming the contractors involved in the fit-out process and highlighting the company's progress and growth since its inception. With plans to launch products in the pet food sector and a commitment to innovation and cost-efficiency, Meatly is poised to make a significant impact in the cultivated meat industry in the coming years.
