Covert Footage Exposes Animal Abuse At ‘Humane’ Canadian Abattoir

Covertly captured video footage has exposed “disturbing” animal abuse at a small-scale Canadian slaughterhouse in British Columbia. The images show workers at Meadow Valley Meats beating cows, goats, and sheep with various weapons, despite the company marketing itself as a “humane” and “ethical” meat supplier. Some animals were seen improperly stunned and conscious while having their throats slit, a violation of Canadian law.

Animal Justice has turned over the footage to authorities, including the BC SPCA, the Meat Inspection Program, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The directors of Meadow Valley Meats, who were previously involved in another animal cruelty scandal, are under scrutiny. Since the release of the footage, protestors have been urging consumers to choose ethics over meat by raising awareness and boycotting products from the slaughterhouse.
