Cranswick Suspends UK Farm After Allegations of Pig Abuse

Cranswick, a supermarket supplier, suspended operations at a farm in Lincolnshire, England after undercover footage showed workers abusing piglets and sows. The footage, captured by Animal Justice Project, captured workers engaging in harmful practices such as "piglet thumping," which had been banned under English law in 2022. As a result of the exposé, Cranswick suspended the entire team at the farm and launched an investigation, while major supermarkets suspended the farm from their supply chains.

Animal Justice Project has submitted a legal complaint citing welfare breaches, calling for an investigation into pig farming practices and regulatory failures. The organization is advocating for a legislative phase-out of pig farming in favor of a food system that does not rely on animal suffering.
