Cultivated Biomaterials to Launch Crowdfunding Campaign for “World’s First” Cultivated Leather Jewelry

US-based company Cultivated Biomaterials is launching a Kickstarter campaign for what they claim to be the world's first cultivated leather jewelry. The leather is produced using the skin cells of a cow named Angel, with a patent-pending technology platform that involves sustainable plant-based scaffolds and animal-free cell-culture media.

The resulting cultivated leather, branded as Angelry, is vegetable-tanned and finished using a non-toxic process. The company aims to target the high-end jewelry market and plans to bring cultivated leather jewelry directly to consumers through the crowdfunding campaign. Founder George Engelmayr, with extensive experience in tissue engineering and cellular agriculture research, hopes to showcase prototypes at upcoming industry events.
