Cultivated Salmon, Carbon Butter & Mycoprotein Named Time’s Best Inventions of 2025

Time Magazine has released its annual list of the best inventions of 2025, which includes a range of alternative protein and future food innovations. These innovations span food and drink, agriculture, sustainability, green tech, and social impact, with a focus on originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact. Some of the notable honourees include cultivated seafood, plant-free butter, vegan gummies, and mycoprotein.

One of the headline inventions is the cultivated coho salmon saku by Californian startup Wildtype. Savor, The Better Meat Co, and Orkla Snacks are among the companies recognized for their innovations in the food tech sector. In addition, Time Magazine also released its list of the world's best brands, with Alpro, Beyond Meat, and Impossible Foods among the top-rated brands in the plant-based food industry in various countries like the US, UK, Germany, and Mexico.
