‘Culturally Plant-Based’: New Docuseries Explores Thailand’s Meat-Free Street Food

The new docuseries Culturally Plant-Based will explore vegan and vegetarian culinary traditions in Thailand for its first season. The series, led by street food vlogger Mark Wiens and Thai celebrity chefs, aims to showcase ancient plant-based street foods and highlight the importance of sustainable food choices. The show will premiere in Bangkok in 2025, with streaming details to be announced.

Thailand is looking to expand production and export of vegan foods, with around 15 percent of the population forecasted to not eat meat by 2025. Last year, the Ministry of Commerce's Trade Policy and Strategy Office published a roadmap to transform the country into a plant-based hub, which includes plans for research, investment, marketing, and production expansion. The roadmap aims to create domestic and international business opportunities and capitalize on the growing interest in plant-based foods.
