Danone’s Silk Debuts High-Protein Milk to Revive Plant-Based Dairy Demand

Danone has unveiled Silk Protein, a new range of plant-based milks with 13g of complete protein per serving, aimed at revitalizing the demand for plant-based dairy products. The launch comes in response to the growing consumer focus on protein and fibre in their food choices. Danone is betting on these two macronutrients to boost sales of milk alternatives, with protein-centric product launches in the plant-based drinks category currently standing at less than 1%.

The Silk Protein range includes original and chocolate flavors, offering the highest protein content among refrigerated plant-based milks in the US. The products also feature 3g of fibre, 50% less sugar than dairy alternatives, and no artificial sweeteners. With an increasing number of Americans paying closer attention to their protein and fibre intake, Danone hopes that Silk Protein will cater to consumer demands and drive growth in the plant-based category, which has faced challenges in recent years.
