De-Extinction, Jurassic Park’s False Promise 

De-extinction, the attempt to bring back species from extinction using DNA, is a deceptive process that ultimately leads to animal suffering, exploitation, and deception. While some animals have been targeted for de-extinction, such as the Pyrenean Ibex, Woolly Mammoth, and Passenger Pigeon, the resulting individuals are not authentic members of extinct species, but hybrids or genetically modified versions of existing animals. These animals are created for human curiosity, entertainment, or profit and are likely to suffer from genetic abnormalities, health problems, and a life of captivity.

De-extinction projects offer a false promise of redemption while perpetuating the mindset that led to extinction in the first place. Rather than resurrecting the dead, the focus should be on protecting the living by restoring habitats, ending exploitation, and allowing wild animals to flourish on their own terms. Vegans should reject the notion that animals can be created, manipulated, or exploited for human purposes, and instead focus on true respect for animals by recognizing their sovereignty and right to live free from human interference.
