Doritos Debuts Plant-Based ‘Burger King Flame Grilled Whopper’ Flavor

Doritos has partnered with Burger King to release a new flavor of corn chips inspired by the fast-food chain's Flame Grilled Whopper. The Flame Grilled Whopper Doritos are said to replicate the smoky flavors and taste of pickles found in the iconic burger, and are made with plant-based ingredients, although they are not certified as vegan due to potential cross-contamination in production.

The new flavor is available for purchase in UK supermarkets, including Asda and Morrisons, with plans to expand to Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Co-op. Burger King UK has been focusing on catering to plant-based consumers, with a goal to make 50 percent of its menu meat-free by 2030. This collaboration with Doritos is part of a larger effort to offer more plant-based options and address environmental concerns surrounding animal agriculture.
