Duckweed Protein Producer Plantible Announces That Its First Commercial Facility is Now Fully Operational

Plantible, a company producing protein from duckweed, has announced that its first commercial facility in Eldorado, Texas, is now operational. The Ranchito facility houses greenhouses, protein filtration systems, and a high-yield strain of Lemna, enabling the production of Rubi Protein at scale. The facility will provide hundreds of metric tons of protein annually and reduce production costs through state-of-the-art filtration equipment.

Plantible is focusing on accelerating scalability through proprietary Lemna strains to improve unit economics and affordability of Rubi Protein. The company aims to increase the Ranchito's capacity threefold and reduce CO₂-equivalent emissions by replacing animal-based protein with Lemna. Plantible is also supporting the community in Eldorado by creating local jobs and providing workforce training, contributing to an increase in median income by over 60% since its arrival.
