Exeter Becomes Latest UK City To Encourage Citizens To Eat Plant-Based

Exeter City Council in the UK has voted to promote plant-based food in order to protect the environment and combat climate change. Lead Councillor for Climate Change, Duncan Wood, proposed the motion, which received overwhelming support. The city plans to lead by example by implementing plant-based catering for internal meetings and events, as well as offering plant-based options in leisure centers, cafes, and restaurants managed by the council.

By encouraging citizens to be more aware of their dietary choices and reduce meat consumption, Exeter aims to support its green ambitions of achieving net zero carbon by 2030. This move follows a trend in other UK cities promoting plant-based living, such as Haywards Heath and Oxfordshire County Council. Despite facing some opposition, councils are prioritizing climate action by promoting plant-based diets and reducing meat consumption to protect the planet for future generations.
