Farmer Claims Slaughterhouse Screaming Is ‘Edited’

Welsh farmer Angharad Lloyd has faced criticism after claiming screams heard in slaughterhouse footage were "edited" post-production. In an interview with vegan YouTuber Plant Geezer, Lloyd defended the use of carbon dioxide (CO2) gassing in slaughtering pigs, stating that the method simply puts the animals to sleep. However, multiple investigations have shown pigs thrashing and screaming in agony before losing consciousness when gassed with CO2, contradicting Lloyd's claims of a peaceful process.

Animal rights advocates, including Faye Lewis of Viva!, refute Lloyd's statements, emphasizing the immense suffering pigs endure during CO2 gassing. The Farm Animal Welfare Council advised against using this method over 20 years ago, suggesting less abrasive gases like nitrogen and argon. Despite cheaper options, the meat industry continues to employ CO2, prompting ethical concerns surrounding the exploitation and killing of animals for human consumption.
