Faunalytics Executive Director Brooke Haggerty to Step Down in January as Board Opens Search for Successor

Brooke Haggerty, the executive director of animal advocacy research nonprofit Faunalytics, will step down from her position on January 15, 2027. The board is currently accepting applications for her replacement until October 18. Haggerty worked alongside founder Che Green for over a year before taking on the executive director role in January 2020, and the board aims to make an offer to a candidate in December.

Under Haggerty's leadership, Faunalytics has seen significant growth, with the staff increasing from four employees to 13 and an expansion of programs. The organization has published numerous original studies and analyses, grown its research library to over 6,000 entries, and provided guidance to nearly 800 advocates through its office hours service. Haggerty cited the demands of leading an advocacy organization as a factor in her decision to leave, and called for boards and funders to offer paid sabbatical leave to leaders before burnout. She believes the organization is ready for its next visionary leader to continue its impactful work.
