Former Rainforest Alliance Head Nigel Sizer Appointed CEO of The Good Food Institute

Nigel Sizer has been appointed as the new CEO of The Good Food Institute (GFI), a nonprofit organization focused on advancing alternative proteins. With a background in nature conservation and public health, Sizer brings extensive experience from his previous roles at the Rainforest Alliance and the World Resources Institute. He has founded initiatives such as Preventing Pandemic at the Source, highlighting his commitment to addressing global challenges at their root causes.

GFI's mission is to promote alternative proteins derived from plants, cultivated animal cells, or fermentation as a solution to climate change, food security, public health, and biodiversity issues. Sizer emphasizes the urgent need to transition to alternative proteins, citing their potential to reduce deforestation, biodiversity loss, pandemic risk, and greenhouse gas emissions. With his leadership, GFI aims to drive the development of sustainable food systems that prioritize the well-being of both humanity and the environment.
