Formo has appointed Dr. Andreas Heyl as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) as the company accelerates its industrial scale-up and commercialization of precision-fermented casein for dairy applications. Heyl brings over two decades of experience in scaling advanced food, chemical, and biotechnology processes into industrial production, with previous leadership roles at Lonza and ICL Group. He will focus on executing and accelerating Formo’s scale-up, product application development, and cost-down trajectory to strengthen industrial robustness and support customer-led commercialization.

Heyl was compelled by Formo’s leadership position in precision-fermented casein and its demonstrated functional performance, as well as the company’s executable path toward cost-competitive unit economics. Formo had previously secured a €35 million venture debt loan from the European Investment Bank to further develop and scale its fermentation processes. Heyl's role as CTO will be crucial in accelerating execution along the cost and scale curves, working closely with customers and partners to bring Formo's technology into commercial reality.
