Fully Plant-Based: Rewe Opens First 100% Vegan Supermarket in Germany

German retailer Rewe has opened its first 100% vegan supermarket in Germany, located on Berlin's Warsaw Bridge. The store, named Rewe Fully Plant-Based, offers over 2,700 vegan products from more than 300 brands, nearly doubling the number of vegan items in Rewe's regular stores. The store features a variety of products from Rewe's private-label offerings to well-known brands like Oatly and Alpro, along with newer startups.

Rewe Fully Plant-Based aims to attract not only vegan and flexitarian consumers but also regular shoppers, locals, and tourists. The store offers a wide range of products, from fruits and vegetables to plant-based milks, snacks, and freshly made bakery items. With a staff of 12 specially trained on the vegan range, Rewe plans to use this store as a test to potentially launch similar concepts in its other stores nationwide. Germany's growing plant-based market and government support for alternative proteins make this move timely and promising.
